Statement:
My artwork titled, The Quarantine, depicts the feelings of isolation and solitude often experienced by the population in the recent year. The current pandemic has created unrest as more people have been required to stay at home. Within my piece, I chose to highlight the unyielding nature an enclosure can have. In addition, the tense space affects not only the individual within, but also the world around. The work uses perspective and monochromatic color to push the mood of isolation and despair. The viewer is invited to see the individual through the enclosed space. Furthermore, my artwork uses light and darkness to highlight the reasoning for feelings of loneliness within isolation. I think of this work as a solace for individuals that have had similar experiences during quarantine.
