Artist Statement

“Null” is meant to represent how I felt during my life when Covid-19 was at its peak. I felt lost to isolation and anxiety and the only things keeping me going during this time was my art, volunteering, and working at Chipotle. The board appears to be sucking inwards towards the main character (myself) as both the positive (pieces standing up) and negative (pieces laying down) are drawn towards the person. This sculpture embodies a very challenging time in my life and everything that shaped me into who I am today in 2021.
