Daniel Maxwell’s current series considers the additive and subtractive forces of life that lead to the human inevitabilities that bind us.

In response to the sudden passing of his father, Maxwell began using repetitive mark making as a coping mechanism to tend to the ceaseless undercurrent of grief. His work is fueled by a belief in expression beyond representation. When he draws, a space emerges through a cerebral dialog between him and its forms He seeks intellectual and visual references by examining spirituality and ancient histories, gathering similarities and common themes. His marks are meant to isolate or trap a moment of ambiguous space. Maxwell’s drawings serve as a visual record, a fragment of a paranormal world.

Daniel Maxwell is a California-born visual artist working in 2D media. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arizona State University. He currently resides in Tucson, Arizona, where he is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at The University of Arizona.
