Statement:
My work is highly influenced by internalized experiences of being a part of the Black diaspora. By utilizing cultural objects, and interrogating collective and personal memory, I aim to create works that speak to authentic exploration and preservation. Netsela is a digital photographic diptych that explores the traditional Eritrean scarf’s relationship to motherhood as a symbol of home and as an embodiment of longing.
